How Many Mobile Apps Do Consumers Use Each Month?

Smartphone owners use an average of 27.1 mobile apps per month, according to recent research from Nielsen.

The report was based on 4Q15 Mobile NetView 3.0 data, which comes from a panel of 9,000 people in the United States age 18+ who agree to have tracking software installed on their devices.

The average number of apps consumers use has remained relatively stable since the end of 2012, the analysis found.

However, the average time spent per person each month has jumped from 23 hours to almost 41 hours.

Women tend to use slightly more apps per month than men. On average, women also spend almost three more hours more per month using apps than men do.

Millennials age 18-24 use fewer apps per month (25.6, on average) than Millennials age 25-35 (28.2 apps, on average). However, younger Millennials spend more time using apps than older Millennials.
